The magazine, total guitar, regularly contains tablature to (Rock, Folk, country, Rhythm and Blues and Jazz music) songs, reviews of guitar equipment, interviews with various bands or guitarists and tuition tips for guitarists of various skill levels. The magazine also comes with a free CD in each issue that contains backing tracks and demonstration tracks to accompany the magazine's tablature and recently has featured video files for tricky and demanding guitar passages. The magazine has also featured a DVD edition in two of the issues. Although it contains gear reviews, Total Guitar contains fewer articles than competing magazines such as Guitarist and contains much more learning material than most competing magazines.
